Obligatory Seriousness
We all just dodged a bullet.
So I just got home from a pool party on a downtown rooftop. I hung out with some promising young professionals. It was a very chill affair. I then headed home, filled up the tank and tried yet another official Rolex jeweler to put down a marker for the watch of my dreams. I listened critically to my latest podcast on the way home. Ron, the watch guy, took my name and got me the official Rolex catalog for that special timepiece. It has been a very good, relaxing day for me. I’m hopeful.
So I sit down to respond to Ron’s email so we can confirm things and I see this weird email from my brother. ‘Swing and a Miss’. WTF? I don’t open it. Now I check XTwitter and somebody says “This changes everything”. God what simple minded… I go to WSJ, maybe something is up.
Uh Oh.
I watched the video three times. I listen to the pops again. There’s an iconic photograph coming out of this one. Just the other day I read a headline saying that Democrats should loosen up and hope for a Dewey Defeats Truman moment. These, my friends, are desperate times. The way I see it, we’re back to the 70s. This is the moment where America turns more pathetic and reactionary.
I remember the afternoon when President Reagan was shot. In the most embarrassing moment in my life, I blurted aloud “Did they get him?”. You might forgive me for being an idiot 20 year old, but the look of shame in my boss’s face immediately made me realize how wrong I was. It was a shameful day. By the end of it, I was glad he survived. Today I was immediately glad Candidate Trump survived. We all just dodged a bullet.
There are few things more dastardly than assassination. Such are means, like perfidy, that are are the hallmarks of cowardice and desperation. My mind immediately harkens back to First Fallujah and the bodies on the bridge. Nasty bastards sometimes do change the world, but never in the way they think. So we’re going to find out.
I don’t hate Trump sufficiently to consider him a threat. I think he is the wrong person to preside, but the one thing we know is that the covert elites aren’t the ones dictating his every step. After listening to Jonah Goldberg debate Niall Ferguson this morning, I think only one of them could have seen this coming, and it wasn’t Goldberg or the podcast host from the Free Press. There is definitely something wrong, something morally broken in society that led us to this horrific moment. Now there is no way to ignore that something.
Grownups in America are not going to lose their minds, but we’re sure to hear a lot of people who will. I expect there will be someone unexpected who will have the decency and presence of mind to say the right things.
Blood cannot call for blood. Democratic power must be responsibly handled. I wonder who is out here in the Square, like me, who understands that. I wonder if I will feel isolated next week.

The idiots out there are already at it. I'm going to bed.
The problem is that there's a lot of adults running around these days that aren't grown up. They're still immature little shits who never learned that when you talk shit, you get hit.
