Stoic Bites 005 - Mind Boggling Goggins
You think you know effort? You don't know Goggins.
Goggins shames everyone. Now that I think about it, I wonder if he was one of the people I had in mind when I wrote this piece.
Well if I did, let me back off of that. Why? Because like I said, Goggins is socially broken. He’s a sociopath, like so many single-minded, extraordinary individuals. I mean, I think our weird relationship with stardom is actually rather appropriate in that we let mega celebrities do their thing to death, extreme as it may be with the understanding that’s not the kind of person we want leading our institutions. This is why populism can be caustic over the long term. So let’s back off the idea of a singular Meritocracy and be thankful that Wall Street doesn’t own everything, The Oval Office doesn’t control everything and AIs cannot make robots dance. Merit is appropriate to leagues. That’s why it was a brilliant move to codify the separation of powers. Let the jostling continue.
Goggins is in a league of his own. We ought to be glad he’s there, not here. F*ck you David Goggins.
Nevertheless. If you need to lose a bowling ball or two, you absolutely should read Goggins and understand that you have no excuse. Hmm. I wonder what Nietzsche would have thought about Goggins.
"He who cannot obey himself will be commanded. That is the nature of living creatures."

Hokey smokes! Audie Murphy? Achilles? Sold! I will read and report!
