For my images, I use Adobe Lightroom and its cloud, having outgrown Apple's native products twice. The way Apple manages them on the phones works nicely, but you have no control. The Lightroom library lives on an external drive which is backed up by Backblaze. Plus about a quarter of my photos are up on Flickr. I'm fairly safe. I trust Google with my email and very little else.
"And I use MediaMonkey and Picasa to manage all of that." That was 2010. Google discontinued Picasa later on. Have you replaced? If so with what?
