I think the tide is turning on nuclear, spearheaded by (bizarrely) Microsoft. The average Peasant is realizing that wind is a scam and solar only works if you live someplace where it's sunny most of the time, like Nevada, Arizona, and parts of other states - and then only for households, because giant solar farms take up a lot of space and don't produce the watts put out by a semi-trailer sized reactor.
No. Academia is in a traffic jam. We didn't build enough fences alongside the highway and we let too many chickens cross the road. Now the chickens have come home to roost and they've clogged up the freeway. Now we must do no harm to chickens, so why do we have V8 engines?
