Apparently, some do! Good for you, we all need to be disturbed from time to time.

Athol, what 'good' are you referring to? What impact do you expect MDCB's vote to have? I seriously doubt it would move the needle on any election results, let alone any societal issue that he cares about. This essay, however, seems slightly more likely to make at least some sort of impact on the world.

This is hackneyed teenager logic and contradicts the obvious fact that "Perfect is the enemy of good." Very disappointing, since I followed you with the hope that you would offer some original thoughts.

Some of my best original thoughts are independent confirmations of other original thoughts that have been around for a long time. It's one of the reasons this spot is called Stoic Observations. I did not invent Stoicism. Nor did I invent the Republican Party or the Democrat Party although I have been members of both. The unoriginal idea that impresses me most right about now follows the logic of someone I actually do not admire, Noam Chomsky. "Manufactured Consent".

I am convinced that the low quality of candidates and debate, which is far from even 'good' and by most admissions is particularly bad, does not deserve a kind of respect that it is getting. The old addage is that when even shoeshine boys have stock advice, it's best to get out of the market. So I honestly don't believe it requires a great deal of original thought to opt out of this circus act called political debate, just a bit of self-respect and an aversion to pig wrestling.

Shortly, I'll be detailing the Stoic spin on this as well as some meditations on the nature of dissent we have seen this year. Stay tuned. It's still free.

Too true! A very sophomoric, "debate team with perfect research" approach to actually achieving results through elections. My guess is the child author thinks TRUMP is "mean and gross" as well as chaotic, in his approach!

MDCB clearly has no sense of business or realpolitc or, the way to negotiate or the way to accomplish any goal other than meeting his editor's deadline for a 500 word position paper.

Hey! MDCB, write a simple essay on Trump's accomplishments in office and then, grow up!
