I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the 50s and 60s. The public schools taught an economic rationale as the cause of the Civil War. But it was an attempt to put lip stick on a pig. When the cause of the war became an issue about the time of Ken Burns' miniseries, I went online and pulled up Texas' declaration of secession. It was all about slavery and is bizarre to modern sensibilities.

Please to excuse. Can you clarify the following lead in sentence, paragraph one, excerpt: at anyone who dare suggest that America is not a white supremacist nation and always has been.
